Microsoft has just released its new Bing search engine in the past few weeks. This website shows them in side by side panels. Now the the differences. For the same search phrase Bing returned 139,000 hits. Google returned 35,800,00 hits. Google had 11 suggested related search terms for the subject at the bottom of the first page. Bing almost matched them with 9 in a sidebar. Google had video links and Bing had none, which surprized me because this is supposed to be one of Bing's strong points. Bing has an interesting feature, if you mouse over the right side of the links you get a large tool tip box with more information about the contents of the link. Google has been my choice of search engines since I started on the internet and I don't think Bing is going to change that any time in the near future. Just to be clear, I am not a Microsoft basher. I am old enough to remember when the the only choices of operating systems were Microsoft DOS or PC DOS (which was MS DOS with a few modifications by IBM) and I eagerly bought and read the improvements in each new release of MS DOS and added them to my list of tools available. Now I eagerly keep up also with advances in Google. Each of the companies are experts in their own field, Microsoft in software and Google in search technology, and I prefer to use them in their own area of expertise. - Alek |

This is another free Microsoft Office replacement with word processor, spreadsheet and database. It is actually a free version of the complete suite but the features not in the free version are minimal. You do not get tech support, upgrades and some templates. There are video tutorials for the software on the website. This suite allows you to view and edit MS Office formats such as doc, xls and ppt. The word processor wil also let you export to pdf files.
